It’s official – your favourite British garden birds!

We'd like to say a huge thankyou to everyone who participated in the favourite British garden birds competition. We've been inundated with a flurry of outstanding comments, and even with a selection of fine poetry that could rival, dare I say it, that of William Wordsworth. So, we've decided to put together a little pie chart of our favourite garden birds, based on your comments. Lo and behold, we can confidently say that our favourite garden bird is the rotund and merry robin - I confess, you can't help but smile at this cheerful chappy. Here is what we found...

The winner, the round robin!

2: Blackbird

In second place, the tuneful blackbird

3: Goldfinch

In third place the colourful goldfinch

4: Blue Tit

Ah, the beautiful blue fourth place

5: Long-Tail Tit

And in fifth, the long-tailed tit

6. Wren

Sixth, the wren

7. Sparrow

In seventh place, the humble house sparrow

8. Starling

In eighth place, the good old starling.

9. Woodpecker

And in ninth place, the great spotted woodpecker

10. Bullfinch

And, finally, in tenth place, the bullfinch!
